The Northeastern Co-op Screener ("Extension") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our browser extension.

Data collection and use

1. Local data storage

The Extension operates primarily by storing data locally on your device using chrome.storage.local. We collect and store the following information locally to enable the Extension's core functionality:

Authentication credentials: When you log in to NUWorks (Symplicity), the Extension saves your session cookies and authorization tokens. This allows the Extension to fetch job details on your behalf without requiring you to log in repeatedly.
User preferences: We store your settings, such as job search filters, "Automatic grading" status, and industry preferences.
Resume data: If you upload a resume or provide resume text for the "Resume Matcher" feature, this data is stored locally on your device.

We do not transmit this personal data to any external servers controlled by the Extension developer. All matching and processing occur locally within your browser.

2. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data to help us understand how the Extension is being used and to improve user experience.

Data collected: Google Analytics may collect technical information such as your browser type, operating system, and interactions with the Extension's features (e.g., button clicks, page views).
Anonymity: This data is aggregated and anonymized. We do not transmit personally identifiable information (PII) to Google Analytics.

3. Third-party sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties.

NUWorks (Symplicity): The Extension interacts directly with the NUWorks platform (northeastern-csm.symplicity.com) to retrieve job listings. Your credentials are sent only to NUWorks to authenticate these requests, exactly as they would be if you were browsing the site manually.

Data security

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your sensitive data (like credentials and resume) remains explicitly on your local machine and is not synced to the cloud by our Extension.
